New blog post

Joy posted on her blog:

CATS for cats and Bowling for the Matt Leinart Foundation

I was able to support a few charity events this weekend...

Thursday was a whirlwind!  Matt Leinart's Celebrity Bowling Event at Lucky Strike in Hollywood was my first stop.  Great organization helping inner-city kids in LA in an amazing way.  Go check out his website HERE.

Knit Top - WEATHERLY
Shorts - APRIL, MAY
Shoes - BC FOOTWEAR
Clutch - LAUREN MOFFATT
Hair Button - Vintage shoe clip!
Feeling playful that night and tried on a pair of KATY PERRY lashes for a 60's glamour look!
Big thanks to Kathy and the gals at d2 publicity!

Then I ducked out to head downtown for a full band rehearsal of my song, Macavity, which I performed last night at CATS for cats, a celebrity-studded & re-envisioned version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical CATS.  All proceeds went toward the Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats, an organization helping to spay/neuter, vaccinate, and find homes for homeless cats in the Los Angeles area.

Director/Producer Shawn Simons took selections of the music from CATS and weaved the songs into a story about TS Eliot writing letters to his grandchildren.  The stage was split in two-- Fred Willard as TS Eliot in his study on stage left, and Eliot's grandchildren's bedroom on stage right where two girls and their parents read aloud the beautiful poetry written by Eliot that inspired Webber's famous musical.  And every time Eliot introduced a new cat in his poetry, a performer took center stage to sing.  It was a fabulous concept and an entertaining show.  I personally found it to be much moreinteresting than the Webber musical... a little more sophisticated, no furry cat costumes, and each song had it's own "theme".  Mine was a sexy/playful jazz number complete with a Bardot hairdo, a bowling-hat wearing piano player, and a bubble-gum pink, satin, vintage gown.

I forgot how much I love performing theatre until last night.  WOW!  What a feeling!  Hoping to do more.  And you guys should plan to come out to this next year!  There really are some amazing actors performing hidden talents!  Ioan Gruffodd, Alicia Witt, Keith David, Owain Yeoman, Janel Parrish and more!

Here's the red-carpet look from the event...

Ok, I'm going to relax!  It's been a busy weekend.  I need sleep and healthy food!  And I'm gonna write more poetry.

xo! BJL
