"Lately"

LATELY...

POETS WRITING EACH OTHER... HOW POETIC.
The Paris Review posted this found letter from TS ELLIOT to VIRGINIA WOOLF. Kinda rad.

My dear Virginia,
Forgive the unconscionable delay in answering your charming letter and invitation. I have been boiled in a hell-broth, and on Saturday journeyed to Liverpool to place my mother in her transatlantic, with the confusion and scurry usual on such occasions, and the usual narrow escape from being carried off to America (or at least to Cobh) myself. In the tumult on the dock an impetuous lady of middle age, ‘seeing off’ a relative going to make his fortune in the New World, by way of the Steerage) stuck her umbrella in my eye, which is Black. I should love to visit you, seriously: the Prince of Bores to refresh his reputation: but the only pleasure that I can now permit myself is, that should I come to Eastbourne (which is doubtful) we might visit you by dromedary for tea: if I leave London at all I am most unlikely to get done all the things that I ought to do (such as my 1923 Income Tax Return) and certainly not any of the things that you want me to do. I have done absolutely nothing for six weeks. One thing is certain: I MUST stay in London, where Vivien will be, after this week, is uncertain. But when do you want to publish my...

DRINK MY WORDS...
If you’ve ever wondered what your favorite words would taste like, then rejoice, as the machine of our dreams has finally surfaced: a typewriter that swirls vocabulary into cocktails. Created by the artist behindMorskoiboy.com, the strange idea’s inception prompted months of trial and error, sketching, fine-tuning, and building to finally bring us the sensory experience-granting contraption. Composed of drugstore finds — keys are replaced with syringes, while clear pipes rule out traditional wiring — the innovative machine converts words into colors and drinks via a main line of alcohol that is infused with rainbow-hued syrups and liqueurs every time a letter is pressed. As you dig through your lexicon and imagine what words you’d like to indulge in, watch a video about the making of this game-changing invention and see some pictures of the finished product HERE.

TUESDAY WELD HONORED BUT WILL NOT ATTEND

"Tuesday Weld will not be attending the Film Society of Lincoln Center's retrospective American Girl: Tuesday Weld, running from September 21—25, which will showcase 10 performances by the unconventional actress." Louis Jordan, who's working on a biography of Weld, at the House Next Door: "For a tantalizing moment, the reclusive Weld agreed to be interviewed at the Walter Reade Theatre in an event called 'An Evening with Tuesday Weld,' but later suddenly cancelled. Weld hasn't made a public appearance in more than a decade. Perhaps she's gone into self-imposed exile a la Marlene Dietrich, wanting to preserve the public's memory of the brazen, luminous beauty that made her an icon of the '60s and turned the heads of everyone from Elvis Presley to Pinchas Zukerman. But then again, Weld has made a career of not giving the public what they want, or expect." READ THE REST HERE
