Modern Vintage

So, shopping in Wilmington is pretty bleak. There's a small handful of stores with cute stuff (Island Passage, Edge of Urge, Lula Balou) and only two places with high-end designer items (Oliver, Beanie & Cecil). Everything else is pretty generic, but I do love shopping at JCrew. The only problem for me is that it's all so mass produced and I love adding that flare of uniqueness to my wardrobe/ensemble. So here's a great necklace I got from JCrew and added my own touch to it.

The first pic is the original necklace. I added a locket that was a birthday gift form my in-laws and a little faux pearl vintage button. Voila!

Last weekend was a treat at local winery The Rusty Grape. They kicked off their movies-on-the-lawn with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in ROMAN HOLIDAY, an old favorite of mine about a princess masquerading as a commoner who takes up with a sneaky, but terribly handsome, tabloid photographer.

The lights were twinkling, the wine was flowing and Galeottis Restaurant set up at the grill and cooked to order for moviegoers. It was a lovely evening, and if you ever get the chance to stop in any Friday this summer you may catch Michael cooking or Maria and Me hanging out with Rusty Grape mascot, River (a golden lab)!

I gotcha Class right here...

Brava Reese Witherspoon for saying what so many young women wanted to hear. This is a quote from her acceptance speech last night at the MTV movie awards. Is it possible the entertainment industry is genuinely ready for a new generation of classy, talented, wholesome young women?

Thank you, Reese!

“I just want to say to all the girls out there that I know it’s cool to be bad, I get it, it’s cool to be bad. But it is possible to make it in Hollywood without doing a reality show. When I came up in this business, if you made a sex tape, you were embarrassed and you hid it under the bed. And if you took naked pictures of yourself on your cell phone, you hide your face people! Hide your face! So for all the girls out there, it’s possible to be a good girl, and I’m going to try and make it cool.”
