"Catching Up from NYC"

Catching Up from NYC

Spent a whirlwind few days in New York this week while invited to the 15th Anniversary for The Notebook. It was an incredible privilege and a helluva a great party. There was literally a sopresatta and salami carving station beside a collection of cheeses and chutneys. I found a killer dress at Saks by Alice & Olivia and I did a little 60's Kim Novak-inspired makeup for the affair. I also got a new purse by Kooba. Most money I've ever dropped on an accessory but I think this one's worth it. The bummer was that I just bought it Tuesday and it rained cats & dogs in NYC on Wednesday so now my gorgeous leather purse is officially "weathered" and vintage looking. I know, cry me a river. Anyway, more on the fashion come Wednesday.

FYI, for all the Moms out there, my best friend on the trip was my ERGO baby carrier. It was, as I said, pouring rain and the stroller was a no-go. So having a comfortable portable baby carrier was essential. Another important thing I learned was to put the hotel phone on Do Not Disturb after it rang and woke up the baby. Ugh.

I also had an amazing meal with my musical partner-in-crime, Ron Aniello, at my favorite New York restaurant, Sfoglia. They cook seasonally and use the absolute most fresh & local ingredients. Every time I'm coming to the City I book a table in advance at this tough-to-get-into eatery. It's quiet, quaint, gorgeous and will sufficiently induce you into a glorious food coma.

Later I got to connect with some rarely-seen friends Nathan & Laura Johnson (Laura's stage surname is Osnes-- you can see her starting December 1st in the new Frank Wildhorn musical BONNIE & CLYDE- commercial below), and also caught up with Paul Teal, an alum from our Notebook workshop and who played Josh on One Tree Hill. Hear Paul sing a clip of "Sunday Train" from our Notebook demo score below...

Back in Wilmington now to finish filming. I can't believe after 9 years its almost over. We're packing up and getting ready to head back to Washington and see what's in store for the next chapter of our lives. Only a few weeks left now...
