"So fly..."

So Fly...

In honor of tonight's premiere of the much-anticipated PAN AM...

I remember when there were curtains in the windows and everyone in coach got a hot meal. I remember when Flight Attendants were kind and eager to serve. And that was just the 80s! Imagine being a flight attendant in the 60s, when everything was new! You got to FLY like a bird! To say it was revolutionary is the understatement of the century.

What happened to the glamour of flight? Now everyone shows up in their sweats, the bathrooms stink up the whole plane, cleanliness is a luxury not often found, many stewards & stewardesses are miserable, grumpy or high, and the food just makes you mad. Well, in honor of tonight's PAN AM premiere, I'm raising a glass to the return of chic flight.

Here are some of my in-flight essentials...
So Fly
Just because you need to be comfortable doesn't mean you can't look good! Shower-fresh and in some loose clothes can be super chic with the right accessories. Wide-leg trousers, a soft top over a tank, chic flats and a must-have cardigan for the cold moments will send you on your way. More key ingredients include a floppy hat (perfect for tipping over your eyes so you don't have to socialize and oddly-enough, when paired with a wet or messy, low bun, looks chic in it's effortlessness. Add crystal or diamond stud earrings for an extra pop of bling (understated is best when going without makeup). Speaking of sans makeup, keep your skin hydrated with moisturizer and water. I like to travel with at least a convertible cheek/lip color and an eyelash curler. Gum and cute hair ties help with the temptation to nibble on crappy airline snacks and my tendency to fuss with my hair. A great travel satchel that gets attention always feels good, and mine is filled with a journal, headphones, my ipad, and anything else I need to work on. Lastly, depending on how long your flight is, a blanket and eyemask is helpful.

WELL, that's all for now! Viva la aerotravel!
