Travel Makeup Basics

It's Thanksgiving time and many of you will be traveling to visit friends and family! I thought I'd put together a list of what's in my personal travel makeup kit in case you're looking for some basics to take with you next week. Here's how
to keep in simple...
I always start with concealer first? Amazing Cosmetics has a magical little tube. A pinhead sized squeeze goes a long way! Next? I love Dior's Airflash foundation! I use it on set, mixing formulas 200 and 300 (400 if I have a tan). Just a quick spray gives great, light coverage. Careful not to get it along your hairline though, it can get a little tacky and tough to remove. Then I use Mac's mineral shimmer bronzer with a light hand, and add a little to my eyelids. Finish with Stila Convertible Color. They've got a wide variety of creme colors and these work well on cheeks and lips. Try the tiniest bit of color on the bridge of your nose for
a sunkissed look.
The best eyelash curler in the business is by Shu Umera. You'll never go back to the drug store brand once you get one of these! Then, instead
of mascara, I sometimes like a more natural look. I use Benefit's Speed Brow on my lashes AND to whip my eyebrows into shape. Fill in any extra spaces or re-shape with a skinny minnie eyebrow pencil like this retractable one by Dior. Last, set those brows in place! Benefit's She-Laq will not let your brows move. I've been on set for 16hour shooting days and when the rest of my makeup wore off, my eyebrows still looked fabulous!

A couple of brow tips... The more natural your brows, the more flattering to your face. They should start no wider than the interior edge of your eye (preferably a hint past, toward the middle). The arch should happen where your pupil sits, then experiment with different lengths and shapes of the end.
Some no-no's... No tadpole eyebrows! You know, where its really
thick at the interior edge and then immediately thins out like a tail? They don't look good on anyone! Also, you girls with bushy brows sometimes want to create the illusion of less hair... Do not shave your eyebrows to accomplish this. And be extremely careful when using scissors to trim. If your eyebrows look Iike mini porcupines it will distract from every other beautiful thing on your face. Instead, embrace your outer Jennifer Connelly and trim for maintenance instead of trying to completely reshape an important part of your face. Big brows are beautiful!
I like to keep lips simple. I love the new craze of lip markers and stains. Grab a handful of these from the drugstore and carry a basic clear lip gloss or balm in your purse for reinforcement.

So, there you have it... My personal makeup bag for travel! Have fun! Xoxo BJG
